FPD Sergeant Injured During Attack by Canines

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Friday, July 14, 2017 at approximately 5:30 pm, two (2) Officers along with a Patrol Sergeant responded to 6020 Harmon Place near the Water’s Edge / Loch Lomond subdivisions in reference to a subject that was wanted for Breaking and Entering Offenses.

As the Sergeant and Officers exited their vehicles and began to approach on foot, at least two (2) Pitbull canines ran from the home and charged at the officers.  The Sergeant was able to draw his service weapon and fire, but did not strike any of the animals.  The Sergeant fell backwards and struck his head on the pavement while trying to escape the attack of the animals.  No one was injured by the fired rounds during the incident.

Additional officers arrived to the scene and several residents of the home were detained while officers were preparing a search warrant to be executed at the home.  The Sergeant was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center due to his injuries sustained when he fell on his head.  The Sergeant was released later that evening in good condition and has returned to duty.

The following arrests are a result of the search warrant that was conducted at the home:
