Traffic Crash
(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, July 16, 2017 at approximately 1:01 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash with injuries on Glen Canyon Drive near the intersection of Long Branch Drive in the Foxfire neighborhood.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then struck a chain link fence.
The driver of the vehicle has been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition. The name of the driver is being withheld until their immediate family can be notified.
At this time Glen Canyon Drive is closed between Brookfield Road and Wichita Drive in both directions. All traffic is being diverted and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes until the roadway can be reopened.
As a result of this crash, the electricity is currently out in portions of the Foxfire Neighborhood as well as along portions of Bonanza Drive, Yadkin Road, and Morganton Road. Drivers traveling along these roadways should remain alert as they approach intersections without electricity. The power company is currently on scene assessing the damages.
The FPD’s Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
